Monday Movie Blog

Welcome back to the Monday Movie Blog at Chief 187 Chatter. Hopefully you all enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing Mother’s Day weekend. Now it is time to put attention back to this ever-growing resource known as the Monday Movie Blog.

This week’s focus is movies that begin with the letter “R”. Please list any and all movies that begin with the letter “R”. Remember to include a list of actors as well as a brief synopsis or review of the film.

Last week saw historic numbers at this site, new followers, and a swell of pageviews for each day of the week, including the weekend! Thank you to all of the new eyes at this site, all of the loyal “regulars” who have followed and read my work since the beginning, and a genuine invitation to all to continue to join me daily. I urge you all to return tomorrow for the week’s most uplifting blog, Simple Joys. I look forward to your posts about movies that begin with the letter “R”.

  1. Good Morning!

Okay, so I'm doing the whole show at the radio station this morning and I really can't start listing all the movies I know that start with the letter "R" as I have lots to do.

But I did have to chime in on this one! I think it's a great idea and I will check back later to see what suggestions are made here!

  2. Thanks Dr. Rus! Okay gang, you read that! Let's show this great man how we do things on Monday Movie Blog day! Please post all of your favorite selections of movies starting with "R"!

I must admit, I still enjoy Red Dawn from the 1980s starring Patrick Swayze, C.Thomas Howell, and Lea Thompson. It was a dramatization of a small town that was occupied by Cuban/Russian forces and how a small group of American rebels from the town tried to pick off those they could. WOLVERINES!

There must be thousands more, so help me out folks!

  5. Rain Man- Dustin Hoffman & Tom Cruise. GREAT movie! K-Mart Sucks Ray. Wapner!

Red Eye- Cillian Murphy & Rachel McAdams. I don't remember much about this movie except it was disturbing. I only watched it because Cillian Murphy is in it and he is beautiful! But not in this movie. Apparently it was directed by Wes Craven & the website that I find these movies gave it 3 out of 4 stars. Maybe it was better than I remember! ;)

    Rosemary's Baby- Ooooohhh! Spooky!

Roxanne- Steve Martin & Darryl Hannah. While I am definitely NOT a Darryl Hannah fan, Steve Martin makes up for it... along with the positively adorable Rick Rossovich (Top Gun). A retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac. I remember seeing this and LOVING it in the theater... I think I owned it at one time. If I see this flipping through channels, I will stop. :) The 50 insults is fantastic!

Rocky 1-14- if you like that sort of thing.

The Ring- Recently watched this again. Another spooky movie. DON'T WATCH THE TAPE!

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves- The one with Kevin Costner. ;) (daniel gave me this one)

Robin Hood- Disney's version, of course!

Movies beginning with R that I have on my list to watch: Rear Window & Roman Holiday.

Rumor Has It- Jennifer Aniston & Kevin Costner. Cute little romantic comedy.

Romeo & Juliet- Zeffirelli's version with Olivia Hussey & Michael York. My mother sorta' forced me to watch it when I was in middle school. So glad I did, gave me an advantage when we read/watched it my freshman year in high school! I also owned this version. I was also able to get an A on the R&J paper in my Shakespeare as Literature class in college. ;) YAY R&J!

Roll Bounce- Ok, well, I only watched it for the roller skating and the music. The story is OK.

Rescuers- Orphan Penny kidnapped by mean Medusa in this Disney Classic, rescued by mice. Good, now, I'll have the motto song in my head all day!

Real Genius- Pre-Top Gun Val Kilmar. LOVE this movie! 80's classic. Forced my husband to watch it, and he liked it too! Cute little Saturday afternoon movie. Another one I'll stop to watch. ;) I might just even call this one a must see.

  6. Good morning and good day to you Chief. Mothers day was awesome. Dinner and family fellowship at the parents house for me. Just can't think of movie titles for now. I don't watch much of those but I'm ready for the next Cars movie coming out. My grandson is excited for it too. Might try to take him to the theater to watch it since he will be 5 in June......=)

  7. Two movies already mentioned that I love and have seen more than once,
    - Real Genius, great movie!
    - Red Dawn, a lot of up and coming movie stars in that one, and I remember those fears at that age
A couple of more I like,
    - Return To Me, David Duchovny, Minnie Driver. A sad but happy love story featuring a strong supporting cast as well as a really good looking dog.
    - Race To Witch Mountain, Las Vegas, stars The Rock, need I say more???

  8. Nobody has mentioned the classic...
Roman Holiday **** A comedy about a Princess, Audrey Hepburn, who runs away to see how the other half lives. She spends her time with Gregory Peck, who is hiding the fact that he is a reporter trying to get an exclusive story while Eddie Albert secretly photographs her.
    A MUST SEE
