Monday Media Blog-Halloween Genre

Welcome to the Monday Media Blog on Chief 187™Chatter.

Happy October! Today is the first day of the month of 2012. In our house it is the start of the elongated holiday season.

We begin decorating for Halloween and don’t stop decorating and celebrating things until Easter ends! And then, of course, are all of the patriotic holidays we observe!

Halloween is an extra-special holiday in the 187 household because it is Racer 187’s birthday.

We do an inordinate amount of decorating – mostly cute things as the young children in my home cannot stomach scary – and welcome the season with viewings of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown throughout the season.

Likewise, it is an extra-special holiday in Hollywood as the horror/scary movie genre is huge with audiences and tickets for these types of movies get sold a lot this time of year.

Whether you like it cute or scary, gruesome or laughable, other-worldly or realistic, what are your favorite things to watch during the Halloween month?

Do you like the element of surprise, the intensely maddening music, the blood-curdling screams, the occult, or do you like the to hide under the blankets cuddling next to your date until it is all over?

Are classics of old like Dracula and Frankenstein’s Monster your taste, or more modern classics like Friday the 13th your thing? Do you prefer Scary Movie or zombie films? Or, like my children and me, do you enjoy the cute aspect of Halloween?

Leave a list of your favorites and why you love them.

Please join me tomorrow for the uplifting and popular Simple Joys on Chief 187™Chatter.

  1. Every month is "Nightmare Before Christmas" in our house. My daughter is OBSESSED with the lovable, well meaning Jack Skellington. :)
