Hollywood Casino 400 Race Recap
Showing their strength and proving they are not has-beens, Jimmie Johnson’s team helmed by crew chief Chad Knaus powered the #48 team to victory lane at the Hollywood Casino 400 run at the Kansas Speedway. Dominant most of the day, Jimmie Johnson was able to stave off advances by teammate Jeff Gordon, two-time winner in the Chase Tony Stewart, and Kasey Kahne at the end of the race in a Green-White-Checkered finish. This win, Johnson’s second this season and fifty-fifth in his career tying him in the all-time win list with Rusty Wallace, and the twentieth in seventy-four Chase races he’s contended, continues his domination in the circuit.
Kasey Kahne had to settle for second on Sunday and Brad Keselowski, who led the race toward the end by refusing to pit, brought home third. Roush-Fenway teammates Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards came in fourth and fifth. Kevin Harvick ran sixth, Clint Bowyer seventh, and Greg Biffle, a favorite to win on Sunday, landed eighth. A decent finish for Aussie Marcos Ambrose resulted in ninth and Mark Martin sewed up tenth.
The points leader is now Carl Edwards who picked up one spot and edges second place in the
points Kevin Harvick by a slim one point. Five-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson earned two spots climbing into third with only four points trailing Edwards. Brad Keselowski also picked up two positions and sits comfortably in fourth. With a decent run in Kansas Matt Kenseth saw his position increase by two spots propelling him to fifth, twelve points behind Edwards. Kurt Busch lost two spots landing him in sixth and Tony Stewart lost four positions posting him in seventh. Kyle Busch retained the eighth spot while Dale Earnhardt Jr. eked up one spot to ninth. Jeff Gordon fell one position to tenth and Ryan Newman and Denny Hamlin stayed entrenched in eleventh and twelfth respectively.
The Chase moves on to Charlotte for the Bank of America 500. Coverage is on Saturday, October 15th starting at 7:30pm on ABC. This race will be run under the lights and promises to be exciting and fast-paced. Tune in to watch the drama unfold and then return here to read the race recap!

Great coverage, but no word of Sebastian! I know its not Nice Car but it is still a world championship.
ReplyDeleteSee ya.
Great Chase this year. The top 8 within 20 points with 6 to go, including WILD CARDS like Talladega & Martinsville.... WOW!
ReplyDeleteGet caught up in the "BIG ONE" at Talladega, you only have 4 races to recover. Rub someone the wrong way and loose a tire valve, cut a tire, or have to make repairs under green... you are 2 laps down and only have 3 races left to make up for lost points.
Now for the JOKES... Who could have seen Jimmie Johnson and the 48 team coming on SO STRONG with 6 races to go? Life is just "FULL OF SURPRISES"!!! Being 4 points behind the leader, what do you think his chances are of making it 6 in a row?
