Welcome to the Monday Movie Blog on Chief 187 Chatter! After six months of painstakingly creating an alphabetical resource of favorite movies, it is time to explore new formats for this blog. Whether tackling different genres, actors’ movies, or movies connected to song, we’ll delve into many topics.
This week’s focus is movie sequels. Summer is notoriously a time for releasing sequels and Hollywood certainly enjoys bleeding a big seller for all its worth by creating these “gems”. What are your favorite movies that are sequels? Please give the movie title, the original movie it was sourced, a list of actors, and a brief synopsis or review.
Please join me tomorrow for the most uplifting post of the week, Simple Joys. To reach me, tweet me @Chief187s. Send me your comments and suggestions and don’t forget to follow me to make sure you receive updates on all of my postings.
Cars 2 - Lightning McQueen and Mater take on the world! Michael Caine, Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy and a whole slew of celebrity voices make this movie magical. And yes, John Ratzenberger is in this one, too.
ReplyDeleteSister Act 2: Personally I enjoyed this sequel better than the first. Woopie Goldberg returns as Sister Mary Clarence to help save an inner city Catholic school from closing, along with several talented (Lauren Hill) kids. I like the storyline better & the music is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBack to the Future 3: Marty & Doc Brown in the 1885 western version of the original Back to the Future. This one is so much more simplistic than Back to the Future 2. Doc Brown falls in love & the time machine is destroyed. All the pieces are wrapped up in a bow.
The Toy Story sequels are good ones too! Or should I say TWO!?
God Father II almost, almost better than the original both brilliant films
ReplyDeleteFor a truly awful sequel to an over-acted, sappy original, try "Oliver's Story" (the sequel to "Love Story"). Watching either of these will remind you that love means no matter how bad a movie is, it can't last forever. Now I've offended every woman I knew in the '70s (again). Maybe love is agreeing to see either of these and pretending you liked it.
ReplyDelete'Per qualche dollaro in più' the follow on from 'Per un pugno di dollari' with Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, Gian Maria Volonté and Klaus Kinski being directed by Sergio Leone this is a spaghetti western at it's psychotic best about a pair of bounty hunters out to bring down a gang of bank robbers set against a haunting sound track featuring a musical pocket watch :-

I'm going with Ocean's Twelve & Thirteen. I can watch any one of the 3 Ocean movies and still find myself surprised by some piece of acting.
ReplyDeleteBesides, who doesn't love to look at Clooney, Pitt, and my favorite acting Bostonian, Damon?
