Friday Music Blog-Valentine's Edition

Welcome to the Friday Music Blog on Chief 187™Chatter.

Music is a great way to set a mood, enhance a mood, or transfix a mood.

With Valentine’s Day only four days away my mind drifts to music to set a romantic mood.

In fact, the very first Friday Music Blog topic was favorite romantic songs. It is a prompt I have repeated often over the years.

No matter the reason people listen to music, I have yet to come across one person who hasn’t had at least one love song they adore.

It is always my secret live-out-loud pleasure to pick the brains of my collective readership to find out their most beloved love songs of all time.

So, this week, the Friday Music Blog topic is once again favorite romantic/love songs.

For romantic inspiration throughout the day and weekend, please remember to check back to see the growing list of selections. In addition, check out some archived posts from Chief 187™Chatter ideal for this time of year like “The Art of the Kiss”, “The Healing Power of Touch”, and “Aphrodisiacal Foods”. Simply type these titles into the search feature located in the top left hand corner of this page or scroll through the sideboard on the right to find those or any previous blog.

The followers number at Chief 187™Chatter sprang up to 89 this week! And, we are approaching 49,000 pageviews, a wondrous feat, but one that makes me a bit nervous that we’ll not meet our 50,000 pageview mark by February 14th.

Whether we do or don’t, I’m just so very thankful to have the opportunity to write about my life, love, and passions and to have such a fantastic readership to interact!

Will you all be my Valentine?!

Please join me on Monday as we start an entirely new week of fresh, original, and new blogs on Chief 187™Chatter.

  1. I'll show my weird side (as usual). But I like "Alice" by Tom Waits. It is also a sad song but I think his recording delivers the passion and madness that a long-lost love can evoke.
As for a more traditional song, maybe "My Funny Valentine" even though (or perhaps because) it's not the most flattering description of the object of his affection.
And I tried to sing "The Blower's Daughter" to my wife but I was a bit overcome to continue. (One of the very rare times I actually sand to her). C'est la vie.

  2. "Shameless" Garth Brooks immediately comes to mind. Such a great song. (also my 2nd favorite secular song of all time)

"If It Kills Me" Jason Mraz. I have said time and time again that to me this is one SEXY song. It is about a romantic love in a friendship relationship and the wanting to just say he he loves her much more than a friend but doesn't want to ruin the friendship. SO good! There is 2 versions of this song. I prefer "From the Casa Nova Sessions" version.

"Your Love Amazes Me" John Berry.
"Careless Whisper" Wham. Yes, I know it is about cheating on your love, but I ♥ it anyway.
"Glory of Love" Peter Cetera (a bit obscure)
"Godsend" DC Talk (can be talking about Christ or a love)
"I'd Die Without You" PM Dawn
    "I Do" Paul Brandt
"I Love the Way You Love Me" John Michael Montgomery
    "In Your Eyes" Peter Gabriel
(clearly going through my iTunes alphabetically)
"Its Your Love" Tim McGraw & Faith Hill
    "More Than Words" Extreme
"Need You Now" Lady Antebellum (I know, another break up song)
    "Play Me" Neil Diamond
    "Sentimental Journey" Doris Day
"The Story of My Life" Neil Diamond
    "Tender Love" Force MDs
"You and Only You" John Berry
    "Kiss From A Rose" Seal
"If Tomorrow Never Comes" Garth Brooks

I'm sure there are plenty more...
Happy Valentine's Day Chief & Racer!
