She was looking around for a familiar face. The moment she made eye contact with me, she put on a BIG smile. That was 10 years ago, but I still remember how good that made me feel. It is little things like that I will cherish for a lifetime.
Thanks for reminding us to look for the "Simple Joys"grumpahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10343685906689924031noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2692958826098214952.post-48548610368874401972011-05-10T13:19:50.955-04:002011-05-10T13:19:50.955-04:00Digging through the tables of treasures is a joy f...Digging through the tables of treasures is a joy for me too. Not too many people want to do that with me but I go any way. I love dirt pudding. One of my favorite simple joys.

My grandson is blossoming into fun. When I baby sit we play catch or try to through balls into large snack cans. We make up games. He loves this. Kicking the ball back and forth seems to be a big thing right now too.

Now that I'm a grammy and not a single mom the stress of dealing with every day life has now given way to me being able to step back and enjoy my grandson as he grows and explores his way up the ladder. The simple joys really make the difference in your quality of life.Wandisvillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05182415219879708914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2692958826098214952.post-56187486235014495452011-05-10T09:26:11.614-04:002011-05-10T09:26:11.614-04:00Hey there Candice!

You are right, enjoy the time you have because as you correctly point out - the time does fly by. I love the fact that your son found "Army men"! Of course there's the Army connection for me, but I remember those little green Army men! No, wait a minute, if I remember those Army men - and your son found them at an antique store - Does that make ME an antique? LOL!

Anyway, great post!

Dr. RusDr. Rus Jeffreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16980823338040850483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2692958826098214952.post-33388270568092712912011-05-10T08:32:04.113-04:002011-05-10T08:32:04.113-04:00This mother's day had to be the best i've ...This mother's day had to be the best i've had in a long time.

Daniel my oldest got me flowers- knowing that carnations are my favorite, the bouquet had a majority of carnations in various colors. They smell so go and are just so pretty.

My daughter- She is a girl, so she takes hints very well. ;) several weeks ago we were at a department store and i saw a jade/silver turtle necklace and admired it for quite sometime. My daughter surprised me with this little bauble wrapped very carefully (and very well) in pretty Christmas wrapping paper and a little blue bag.

My youngest- he didn't want to buy me anything. Instead he wrote a letter to me in class & presented it too me before Mother's day. It is hard for a 2nd grader to keep things like this to himself for so long. ;) My favorite words in the letter include "I'm sorry for screaming i hate you , i don't, and mean it" & "Thank you for teaching me to talk, cral (crawl), run, I'm glad I have you for helping me at everything and more." This from the "joy boy" 7 year old!

What more could a mom ask for for Mother's Day: flowers, jewelry & sentiments of love. :)

Stephen paid for dinner at a new Mexican restaurant we now enjoy. ;)Juleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11019562060252268854noreply@blogger.com
