The young doctors journey into obsessive madeness as well as the unethical means to his nobel goal still reveal an uneasy feeling in me.This film (also directed by Branagh) exposed the humanity and corruption of the doctor that no other version came near to. If by the best we can say the one that gave the authors idea over to the movie genre I definitely think this one of the best.randrbartowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12247437183707716414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2692958826098214952.post-80314092580133594052011-07-18T06:32:32.142-04:002011-07-18T06:32:32.142-04:00I'm sure there are many but for this Southern ...I'm sure there are many but for this Southern girl the ultimate movie based on a book is "Gone With the Wind". Selznick captured the scope and grandeur of Margaret Mitchell's epic novel, cast it perfectly right down to the red-headed Tarleton twins, and created movie magic.

No one reading the book after seeing the movie would be able to imagine anyone other than Vivien Leigh as Scarlett, Clark Gable as Rhett, or Olivia de Havilland as Melanie.

The movie necessarily condensed the book but it still ran about 4 hours. I remember seeing the re-release at the theater and having an intermission during the movie. I've seen it on television since then but the small screen doesn't do that giant story justice.Janine Cloud https://www.blogger.com/profile/02177947059351723896noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2692958826098214952.post-30036325405624012692011-07-18T05:34:00.899-04:002011-07-18T05:34:00.899-04:00Do androids dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Di...Do androids dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick became Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott the story, originally set in 1992 and in later editions 2001, focuses on a bounty hunter Rick Deckar who's job is to identify and hunt down renegade android replicants, that were built as servants to people willing to start a new life and move 'off world'. that find their way to earth.

Deckar is called into 'retire' which terminate 6 of the latest Nexus 6 replicants who have found their way back to earth leaving a trail of destruction as they seek to cancel an pre programmed safety device each android is fitted with that will shut them down before they become too 'advanced'.

Great film with Harrison Ford as the bounty hunter, with Rutger Hauer as and Darrel Hannah as uebermench androids.

I saw the film before I read the book both explore what it is to be human.Art Tidescohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16680781189400367930noreply@blogger.com
